The Fog of Life

The Fog of Life

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

...

"
Sipping from the ancient cup of wisdom
My eyes were opened to many mysteries.
The yummy taste of quest hit my tongue
and my soul began to crave for possibilities.

I sent my mind to the realm of the deep
Looking for solutions that doesn't seem real
I thought the hidden could be made seen,
Hoping the seals could be unsealed.

But life is never willing to show a man
its many secrets that lies everywhere.
Yet, I never stop trying the best I can
to peep through its foggy atmosphere.

Coz' I've got to know this about life
that it never betray a curious mind.
If I can't get the perfect answers I desire
I'll surely get something close by its side.

This one is about the struggle for understanding. "With all your getting, get understanding." It is a worthy quest, and as the last lines tell us, we might not find what we want, but we may come close.

Awesome message! I like your writing and enjoy because it has purpose to it.

This poem is the perfect culmination of the 3 poems of yours I've read this morning. To a certain extent, I find that your writing often has an underlying bubbling up of intent . . . it's as if you want to change the world with your words . . . not that you show this in an outward way, as if trying to change people (you do nothing annoying like that) . . . but you just have this earnest way of stating things about life as you see them, such that a reader can feel how much you want to get this idea across, & maybe even change some hearts & minds. That's why this poem is so satisfying becuz it feels like you're acknowledging this about yourself & your writing. As much as you make proclamations to light the way of understanding & humanity, life is a ever-evolving mystery over which we have no control. I think it's a beautiful thing when a person can accept this (we really have no control & we really don't know s**t) . . . but you still have the enthusiasm for the type of cheering analysis you do in writing. I think dancing with the mystery is the best part of life, after a lifetime of being a control freak & trying for years to stop that controlling approach! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A great message in this one, Kay. I love the idea that life will not betray a curious man. I do think there's truth to that. Probably because a curious man keeps exploring until what he's looking for arrives. Or he finds something else that he didnt realize he was looking for, but actually fulfills his needs better than the thing he originally sought. As your poem alludes in the end.

I do always enjoy your philosophical poems. Life can be foggy for sure, but that fog doesn't have to stop us moving. Great work.

This is an interesting way to look at life. I've had many moments when the fog suddenly becomes clear, but this raises even more questions. Where does the fog come from in the first place? I'm always looking for root causes and how to fix things, but often it seems the world doesn't want to be fixed. Ignorance is bliss for some, I suppose.

We never stop learning Kay. We may never find all the answers but we can have fun trying to find solutions to those things which puzzle us. An interesting read.

An interesting write here as you spill forth your voracity for exploring life. A really useful tool and being curious is excellent not only in terms of learning and development but it is a key factor in mental well being.

I agree my friend.
"But life is never willing to show a man
its many secrets that lies everywhere.
Yet, I never stop trying the best I can
to peep through its foggy atmosphere."
The above lines I do understand. We are always learning. Thank you Kay for sharing the amazing poetry.
