The True Valentine

The True Valentine

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

.....

"

On my journey to Wonderland,
I met people drumming and clapping.
"Oh! What a wonderful Valentine."
They kept on singing and dancing.

The gift of love they gave to me
and told me to give also to others
Not only to those that gave to me.
but also to those that don't have.

Every day they lived was full of joy
with everyone swimming in pool of love.
Together they wined and dined with fun,
having nothing to fear coz their united as one.

Neither gold nor silver they have to spend
but their little kindness could wake the dead.
As time would count and take revenge,
Reality striked and Im back to earth.

In awe I shook my head and smile,
wishing this world would be as that.
Where we can live with no war but peace
where we can all live without worries.

Hello Kay, good to see a post from you. Valentine's are for every day. We can't get enough love when there is a world so full of troubles. Your dream was perfect. Lovely moments in a perfect world where people count and material possessions are ranked at the bottom of the list. What a shock you must have got when waking, but how lovely to linger in those dreams. Beautiful thoughts in your poem.

I think your optimism and reflection is infectious. What else is there? We already know of the other side. I like this.

Me too my friend.
"Where we can live with no war but peace
where we can all live without worries."
Would be nice when all children are safe and we rate a man or woman by her deeds. Not color, race or religion. Thank you for sharing the outstanding and hopeful poetry.

I believe that though the outer world might be fraught with change and danger, the wonderful world you describe exists in our inner worlds. The task is to seek it.

Good one Kay. As they say, "better late than never".
I can certainly feel the exuberance of your encounter with these people ... the emotions are palpable.
Well done.
There are a couple of things to look at "coz their united as one" 'their should be they're'

"Neither gold nor silver they have to spend" would read better as "Neither gold nor silver have they to spend" to help the flow.

"Reality striked" should be "struck".

Well done ... good to have you back.

Great to see you back, posting here! I've missed reading you. I miss your enthusiastic way of penning relatable concepts using unusual (out there) observations. This poem strikes me as a lively uninhibited way to express how it might feel to have love bubbling all around everyone. Why not imagine it? Why not imagine how it could feel? I get so tired of everyone bemoaning the lack of love . . . lack of touch, with the pandemic . . . sure, there's all that & it's a bummer. But why not just act out in the spirit of love anyway, which is what you've done in this poem, & it's why I love reading you. Be my valentine (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
