Old is Gold

Old is Gold

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

...

"
Filled with despair and uncertainty,
Life is a place so crooked and deadly.
Be careful or you'll fall
and be forgotten to have ever lived.

Over the years through storm and tides,
some have fallen and some survived.
Some are wounded but refused to die
living to them with so many scars.

Death hates life and life hates death,
but everything that begins has an end.
Too many things old eyes have witnessed.
Those worse days and those beautiful moment.

Those memories that haunt and won't leave.
Those insults and scorn that life would bring.
Betrayal from friends and loved ones
to the death of those that mean so much.

Life keeps striking and people keep falling.
Leaving only few to tell the sad story.
The face is now wrinkled, with body weak and wear.
It really worths a gold medal to live to see the gray hair.

Here in the USA. Old folks are dying fast. We must respect and take care of the old ones. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

As an old person, I would wager to say that at least half of all people are living a sort of half-death, not really engaged in their own lives fully, just giving in to hopelessness. Also, as an old person, I gotta say I'm not into drama one bit anymore. We've seen enuf! Love what you're saying here (((HUGS)))

As an old person, i can appreciate this one. It's filled with wise observations. It highlights the saying "old age isn't for sissies."

Thank you for appreciating this, John.
Old age is not for sissies.
Well written study of life's journey ... the struggles and the triumphs ... this life has been an adventure to look back on.

But, remember that in Life ... no one gets out alive.

Only a few to tell the story...absolutely, Kay.
I am still telling stories, but I will be gone a bit down the road...will anyone tell a story about me, or will I be just a blip on the radar of memory?
I wonder.
this poem is such a reflection.
