Halley Resurrected

She's like a comet, beautiful, yet all she's destined to be is destructive

Oh Halley the sky screams red in your light

Roaring like thunder inflames tonight

If Earths glory ends here, alone, floating free

I don't think i'll mind if you're the last thing I see

I've heard of your tales from galaxies end

I'd hoped and I'd dreamed that i'd see you again

Solar cries of fume, your combustible lies

Inferno magnífico to the hearts naked eye

Dreams aren't forgotten, hope carries on

When the blaze dimmers, all life has gone

Cozy under a blanket of the brightest of stars

I'll wait there for you for all of my hours 

If you do ever decide to appear

Resurrect me, set this heart free

It's this that I wanted, but never forget 

I'd trade it for you, and a moment more yet

You are so true to your metaphor that I wondered for a while if you had a passion for astronomy and were actually writing a love poem to the comet. Cleverly done. 'solar cries of fume, combustible lies' you really work it well.

the comparison of the woman to the comet is so aptly applied in this poem...there is tension, love, space, acceptance, tortured soul, pleading...all mixed together like a galaxy of stars waiting to be rearranged.
