Rain

Rain

A Poem by Alexzan Marie

The rain falls and

my graces float away in

the flooding streets.

Thunder cracks as hard as

my heart pounds and

you aren't here to hold me.

I am as cold as

the water and with

each

falling

drop

I get colder.

The rain falls in

hushed whispers

telling stories of where

it's been.

It says

'how can you feel

so lonely when

these tears, this

water

hitting your skin has touched

so

many

others

just like you?'

The rain falls and

my graces float away in

the flooding streets

and you aren't here to hold me.

See I guess I read this because it rained here today.. but I enjoyed your poem alot more than the rain. It made me want the sunshine. "hushed whispers" I loved that line most of all...

The repeating refrain comes in perfectly...as if you have no answer for the rain.

I hear emotions flooding. Tears that can't be stopped. Loneliness piercing the heart. Such a wonderful poem!

It's raining here too... snow will melt at least...

I like this part the most: how can you feel so lonely(...) - thank you...

Wow, you and I share a similar outlook, I think.

"The rain falls in
hushed whispers
telling stories of where
it's been."

F---ing brilliant

"It says
'how can you feel
so lonely when
these tears, this
water
hitting your skin has touched
so
many
others
just like you?' "

The indifference of nature is its greatest reality. Rain falls on us all. I love how you combine that with the selfishness of our natures, how on an individual level one inevitabely wishes the rain wouldn't fall on him or her. And of course it's all a metaphor, for how we feel when we are alone, soaked with the cold rain:

"I am as cold as
the water and with
each
falling
drop"

Love the line breaks, too, how it looks like water dripping from a ceiling.

Really great, adding it to my favorites!

Very deep and sad, a good read though I must say. I do enjoy the use of "rain" in poems, it is such a meaningful thing..

Great read

it sounds like it has been raining for days, and this deeply affects your writing....i am sure many writers feel that pangs that sometimes accompany very dreary weather, and it certainly invites the writer to get their creative juices flowing.....this is a very good write, and flows very nicely....
