Black And White

Black And White

A Poem by RainbowEmerald

Black and white
It's the colors you see the world in
 when you can do nothing
but hurt yourself
Black and white
It's what they judge you by
The color of your skin
Because nothing else matters in this world
But racism
Black and white
This world is black
And maybe the next is white
There is no gray
There is no middle
You are either up
Or down
Black and white
It's what you experience with your messed up mind
Until you find the person
Who becomes your rainbow

Perhaps we should all be colour blind? However ..

.. we select colour into our lives: paint walls different colours and llve within them. We eat different coloured food and are energised by them. We clothe ourselves in colour/ We plant colour and inhale its scent. So, why does coloured skin rupture the same or similar premise? How come what is in our genes, DNA. fabric.. we can't each of us accept our historic rainbow birth?

Your words invite optimism wrapped in 'sense and sensibility'. BUT most of all, humanity. Thank you.

I love the hopeful and optimistic ending.
So relatable on many levels.

Racism is a really bad thing for our world but it has been prevailing for a long time.
As you said there's nothing in between them, it's true. But my favorite part is the last stanza.
