A Poem I wrote for Jay Gatsby

After reading the Great Gatsby, I wrote this poem.

No matter

 how hard we try

   to escape the 

    current that is the past, 

     we can never evade 

       the things that 

        have happened to us. 

         It seems they always come flooding back, 

          trying to pull us under.

Hmm.....not sure I agree with this. The past does effect the future, but it need not define it. However, you have expressed yourself well in this write. I liked the way you presented this. Lydi*
