Wake Up

Wake Up

A Poem by Kenfucius69
"

Possibly my most emo poem. Things will get better...they have to.

"

Wake Up

I drive under each streetlight, each one darker than the last

Each one another moment wasted

Addicts begging for change; change your life

And the gullible cling to the past

Walking on the sidewalk, couples talk

Stepping on cracks, breaking bad backs

Out of the rat race onto the sack race

Blowing money on blackjack, ten and ace

Insects flutter around the zapper lights

Killing instinct desires

And plants get the blight

Turning farms to fire

Turning down the wrong path

Don’t worry I’ll be back

Barely can drive

Lucky I’m alive

Took a dive into the lake like Phelps

This ain’t a cry for help, this is a beg for forgiveness

Only in my dreams can I see clearly

Viewing perfect pleasures through osmosis
