Imperfect perfection

Imperfect perfection

A Poem by Kenneth Nicholas Lowe

Man leads a life of boundless contradiction
In heart and soul, he carry this affliction
His mind dubious to his contrary actions
It's one of God's mercies, lack of life's comprehension

To his foes, it's as clear as the sun at noon
To his lovers it shows, when the butterfly cocoons
His acquaintances and admirers are blind till death
His family and friends, through shame hide it

His stand is firm on issues close to home and heart
He outsmart's his own logic, when they are miles apart
Companionship and conversation is all, is his claim
But chooses a mate, for her fortune and fame

His pride his ideals, he's profound of his ways
All men were born free, though some should be slaves
Life is precious, he hates consumption of the living
Part for vegetables at knife, the living aren't screaming

The government is empowered for the freedom of people
But trust no one, for free commons are evil
Peace he proclaims, with a gun in his slinger
Ready to use, when threatening words he uncovers

He makes life carefree, when insurance is paid
Crisis twice harder, when for insurance to claim
Cheap goods he demands, the factories cut their human cost
A job he needs or his cheap goods are lost

Freedom of speech is free for all
But a writ against him, TO PRISON!!, he calls
Corruption is bad, he hates it most
To get ahead in line, "The Right People", he quotes

Change is the only constant, his morning recitation
But fights against Gay Marriage, it's an unholy abomination
He disciplines his kin on the right and wrong
20 years ago, he sang a renegade song

Yet we love one and other, for the big and the small
There are no absolutes, even the Greats had their fall
For which life isn't filled with an unbalanced love and hate?
To Err is human, to be perfect is not our fate
