When Fish Fall in Love With Stars

New poetry yay. I like this one =)

It’s been a year now

Since the start of rocks crashing to shores

                In the form of ocean tide eyes

That try desperately

                                To meet mine

 

Maybe just maybe

The ocean has finally

                Touched the

           Sky

 

Or maybe the stars have jumped into the depths

                Of your optics shining onto your

                                Broken heart

           Strings

 

I’ll spend some time weaving our

                Heart strings together

Until maybe

                Connected we can be

           Whole

 

Since pieces of my skyline gaze

Have been falling into your expanse

                For a while now

And the fish have met the stars

 

Because heaven knows I haven’t been whole

                Since before I became

                                A faithless little girl

And I know you’re not either

 

But there is love here

And I guess I’ve heard from fairy tales that

                Love heals all

                                Wounds

 

But only if you let it

So I’m letting you in

For a second time

And lots of people will say

 

                God damn girl you’re insane

 

And maybe I am

As I am swept away in summer winds

                Falling in love by warm nights

                                And river currents

 

Praying to nothing that

Heaven forbid

This September to be

                Cruel to me

                                Again

 

I once asked

When forever started

And was always answered with

 

It sure and s**t isn’t

                                May

                Or

June

 

But maybe this time…

It could start in

                April

 

If you have the guts

To let me be the hero

                Of this god awful

Summer time

                Fairy tale

 

Then maybe we can get

Some form of a

                Story book ending

Where the sky fell into the ocean

 And the fish all fell in love with

                                The stars

This was so clever and original. I was rather breathless at the end. There seemed to be two stories here, like one from the soul of the writer, and another from the writers imaginations of fish falling in love with stars. The images were refreshing and enchanting. The structure erratic, not sure if the form was meant to symbolize or show something - but it's uniqueness in it's own right adds to the poem instead of detracting. Bravo on the Write! Truly Enjoyed!
