CITY OF DARKNESS

CITY OF DARKNESS

A Poem by Twilight

Silent Streets where shadows creep,

ever there but sometimes hiding,

neon lights often do the guiding,

Lost souls with absent goals,

walk the streets of this city so cold,

young or old their faces how,

a mere impression,

where was once an afterglow,

Don't despair or ever lose hope,

one way or another,

we have to cope,

Express yourself through creativity,

avoid feeling bitter,

or the pangs of greed,

Writing, painting and photography,

cinematic images and calligraphy,

help to inspire and engage the mind,

however dark the city,

there is always light to find.

This piece of poetry reminds me slightly of one of my own poems: A Twisted Take on Puppet Masters. This is well crafted and is the type if writing I like to read. You expressed your idea superbly and I hope you read my poems and enjoy them as much as I enjoyed this:).

Now this was indeed interesting.. I found myself going back to it a few times to re-read it. The meaning kept changing for me and each time for the better.

Bravo!

I've missed reading your wonderful poems, it's been awhile :P And yes, when I say wonderful, I mean every word of it. Great write!! "Don't despair or ever lose hope, one way or another we have to cope." SO true. And, "however dark the city, there is always light to find." I've been through hell, and yep even when you think all's lost and hope is gone, there will always be someone you can count on. Okay that turned into a rhyme lol. I'll read more of your stuff, so keep on writing :P

I often feel this way myself about writing, especially poetry. It's my outlet for life and can keep you sane and out of trouble indeed! I love the basic metaphor throughout this poem and how you turn something dark into something light. Emily Dickinson is one of my favorite poets and this reminds me of her style. Brilliant!

Inspirational, everything surmounts till the very end,
leaves me aghast, because amongst all the darkness, there is light,
