Goodbye Yesterday, Hello Tomorrow

Goodbye Yesterday, Hello Tomorrow

A Poem by Kevin Holloway

Whatever happened to yesterday
When the moment ruled the way

Whatever happened to those facts
The ones that paved the way

Whatever happened to the monsters under my bed
Mommy, Daddy, come quick
So I can get some rest.
Now wasted I hit the sheets and sleep, dreaming
Of a brand new day.
And when I wake I say:

Goodbye yesterday, hello tomorrow
Goodbye yesterday, hello tomorrow
Now I've gotta move today
In the right direction

Looking at pictures from days gone by
Faces smiling back at me
In them the grass was green, it seemed
Nothing could discolor my world

Whatever happened to being an astronaut
Or was that just a phase?
Way up high singing in outer space
When I was young the sky seemed so endless,
Hope infinitely
And now it's just a reminder of what's there,
And that I'm nothing compared

I look up and I sing:

Goodbye yesterday, hello tomorrow
Goodbye yesterday, hello tomorrow
Now I've gotta move today
In the right direction

Waiting for a call
That never comes
Where are you?

Show me a sign
Bring out the divine

Goodbye yesterday, hello tomorrow
Goodbye yesterday, hello tomorrow
Goodbye yesterday, hello tomorrow
Goodbye yesterday, hello tomorrow
Whatever happened to me?

I LOVE this!
I've been in a super nostalgic mood lately and this just exemplifies how I feel. What was your inspiration? I just can't get over how you well you put the words together and really used the simplest memories to evoke the deepest feelings.
