The secrets that you keep
Hidden beyond the deep
Scared to look beneath
In fear of what you might see
Afraid to scratch the fragile surface
To find out your pathetic purpose
Is nowhere close to being perfect
As you pretend to be victimized
To avoid what you might find
Inside your genius mind
Some mistake as being narcissistic
But the truth is it's purely gifted
Complex and internally conflicted
And those few who choose to liberate
Are the ones who live inside the horror
Of suffering and self torture
Because it's painful to create
Facing the void is the only way
Through the mirror of self hate
Darkness can no longer be escaped
But if you decide to make the leap
You'll be given a glimpse of eternity
Heaven can only be found when you've been tested
Once discovered your soul will no longer remain restless
For the journey within isn't about being the smartest
Nor how much money you can accumulate
This is the Path of the Artist
Only the pure at heart can take.

this poem reminds me of an out of body experience. Written across the stone pages, etched into the rock. Scratched So intensely soulful. I like your poetry because I can read your poems over and over and over. It is the quality.

i certainly can relate...there is a subtle rhyme scheme, very subtle and a really consistent rhythm to this...

but what it says is so pertinent to the artist...it isn't about accumulating things, it is about freeing the soul, the mind the heart with words...and it is our way of getting out what needs to be gotten out.

this is a really well done piece of poetry...you use words to their fullest extent.

‘Path of The Artist’

The title brought me here, to read, to feel the piece intent. As I read along I really thought it is a struggle went through now and then. But it is more than that.

It is a battle within, a whirlwind of emotional journeys and burdens life brings based upon our choices. How the fibers of darkness can slowly wrap us and engulf us – making us blind and to lose control over our emotions.

~ It is just being human to keep something deep within. All of us have/had something to be kept. I think anyone would go through such secrecy – any type of it as we go in our journey. It is a part of what makes us more human. We commit a lot of mistakes as we grow up, I guess it is only natural we kept some of it for – privacy or to protect ourselves.

Scared to look beneath
In fear of what you might see
Afraid to scratch the fragile surface
To find out your pathetic purpose
Is nowhere close to being perfect
As you pretend to be victimized
To avoid what you might find
Inside your genius mind

~ this lines it made me think that it is also natural for us to feel fear – it’s part of our human emotions. A certain emotion that brings a rush of feeling to hide or pretend it never exists in our reality. A friend told me that you are a smart person(not sure that I am) but still you are easily affected by deep depression. And I just replied to him that we are just human beings – human beings that very susceptible to depression. We are not immune to it, more often we are drawn to it. “pathetic purpose” and “being perfect” – these makes us more to be the victim of our own choices. There are no perfect life, or perfect purpose, nor perfect us… it can only be perfect on how you appreciate the simple things and give way to the values and learning our choices creates. Embrace the past and let go… but then it’s easy to say than done… time will tell, healing takes time.

I just love these lines:

Heaven can only be found when you've been tested
Once discovered your soul will no longer remain restless
For the journey within isn't about being the smartest

~ true, true… in life being smart is never enough, be wiser and learn more from your mistakes… learn more about life… discover yourself, find the voice to balance the battles within… learn to embrace the battles within to make peace to both sides…

I find this piece really beautiful, it reflects more on how we handle life…
