Ceteris Paribus

Ceteris Paribus

A Poem by Daydreamer
"

All other things held constant..

"

My link to the past present and future

What was once a mixture

Of naive and reckless

Rapidly grew into foolish and blind

I was searching for something back then

Back when

I thought I used my mind

Trapped inside circumstances

Lost within the noise

Your voice

Was the only one

I could decipher

Even after I flatlined,

My inner light shined

The way out,

Of bad relationships.

Misguided friends

And unforeseen enemies

I flew over vast oceans

Drowned in too deep,

Waves of emotion,

Almost consumed by guilt

But it was your voice

That became my constant.

i let something go, years ago...something i should have held onto...and over the years the memory still haunts me...the what ifs....

and i have seen her here and there...not often, a couple times...and when our eyes meet there is still that something...we both know it...but it has passed...
