Fire and Rain

Fire and Rain

A Chapter by Alex Vidmar
"

Inspired by the James Taylor song of the same title.

"
I've seen Fire and
I've seen Rain...
You've had sunny days
That I wished would never end...

I've seen you hold your ground like Earth.
I've heard you yell and scream like Wind.
I've watched your tears pour down like Water.
I've seen you show burning passion like Fire.

I've seen Fire and
I've seen Rain...
You've had sunny days
That I wished would never end...

I've watched as you slipped through my grasp like Water.
I've felt you blow by me like the Wind.
I've seen your hatred for me burn like Fire.
I've seen you knock me to the Earth.

I've seen Fire and
I've seen Rain...
You've had sunny days
That I wished would never end...

You're just like the Elements...
Encased in human form...
But I don't know which you'll be...
And I don't want to cause you harm...

I've seen Fire and
I've seen Rain...
You've had sunny days
That I wished would never end...

I feel the Fire burning through me...
I feel the Water in my eyes...
I feel the Wind leaving me...
Lay me in the Earth, I've died inside...

I've seen Fire and
I've seen Rain...
You've had sunny days
That I hoped would never end...

Honestly, I'm not sure what you were trying to get at here. It's not that I don't like it, but it's very vague. I know it's inspired by some James Taylor song. I don't listen to James Taylor, so I'm not familiar with his body of work. But I think he stole that whole "Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire" thing from Captain Planet.

I really liked this, I liked the whole element analogy you expressed here. I have always been a fan of writing with elementary components, and you used it well here.

Great right. I love the rhythm and the repetition. You have a message that goes from life to death through the loss of something you were passionate about: fire, due to the erosive power of water. Great work, very elemental.

What a wonderful rendition of a classic song. You gave it a sorrowful romantic twist adding in the elements that are a part of all of us. How graceful you have created the elemental emotion through Fire, Wind, Water and Earth! I love it!
