Light At Dusk

Light At Dusk

A Poem by Mike Cole

I often thought of my life as being perfect

The sun rising on eager skin,

As my eyes opened at seven AM

Waiting for the day to begin.

But alas, the pure excitement

That I had first know

When I had tasted the sun’s rays

Are gone by 8 am,

As the first failures of the day haunts my thoughts.

I thought that it would be perfect.

No longer does the light permeate my life,

But the eyes that I had once called friends,

Now desire to remain shut.

And the anticipation once had of the new day,

Is now but a faded memory,

Locked in my mind

With no hope of finding the key,

And no hope of unlocking my true potential.

I can relate to this my friend. I like how you express yourself. This is hard to write about and your expression is very well done.
