The Homeless Heart

The Homeless Heart

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

You are the blind light

that seeks salvation in unknown ways.

You are the hope for persistent ones

who do not know how to go

with the flow of white blood.

Kiss me so that I remember

all the stars that fell at our feet.

Don't play God,

you lost this passionate game

a long time ago.

Let's dance as if the world

has gone into the unknown,

as if silence has become warmer

than the morning sky.

Let us not be afraid of loneliness,

let us not run away from love.

There will be times

when life is associated with

blue-eyed naivety.

I don't want to love you goodbye,

I don't want to idolize

your footprints.

Though the final ballad of the season

ends, we'll be sure of our promises

forever.

We will always believe a lie

that will soothe exhausted tears.

I don't want to die against the future.

Find in me the fear

that will fill the homeless heart.

This is a beautiful piece Kat; I love how the prose flows and there’s something about the meter in those first two lines that really hooks the reader. As far as believing a lie goes, those timeless lies often tell the deepest truths.
