Smiling Face of the Sky

Smiling Face of the Sky

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Do not look towards the light
so that you can see what
is most beautiful.
Do not look for solitude
where time reigns.

Look straight into the smiling face
of the sky, hug your cheek
to raspberry clouds.
Will the body, devoid of madness,
give way to an ashen soul?
I walk away, the pain follows me
like a lost shadow.

Let me taste the air you breathe
every morning.
Hidden in the cradle of your hands,
I wait for better memories,
for a more interesting future.

I found this piece deeply relatable and I was hanging on its every word. I read the poem as ‘if your always looking for the next big thing and the meaning of life and such, you’ll never be happy. Being stuck in endless circles looking for light in only darkness only brings bad things. Then the second stanza is gorgeous, full of outstanding, vivid imagery and giving e whole world around you a much more likable paint job. ‘I wait for better memories, a more interesting future.’ I genuinely wish I wrote this line. This is such a powerful end all, be all line, wow. It ends it with such a wonderful thoughtful line that I have to admit I’ve pondered over and over. Thank you so much for sharing this is going straight into my favorites!
