Name of the Night

Name of the Night

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Don't pretend your life

belongs to someone else.

Don't admit to silence

with so many unfinished breaths

separating us.

Hidden behind the Moon,

I'm looking for stars to obey me.

There is a sky where someone

has written the name

of the night.

Calm was left, we found the time

worth going to the very end

of the margin.

In love with your loneliness,

I bring you the most exquisite sorrows,

the most beautiful words,

which I have called

my smiling thoughts.

I am giving you a few

interesting smiles as a gift,

a few stars that will replace

your pain. Empty tears run down

the thin skin of the heart.

My guardian angel,

this harmless mythomaniac,

borrowed wings from me yesterday.

I didn't get a kiss,

I didn't live to spring,

which was supposed to lend us

some faith.
