Epic Grim (intro)

Epic Grim (intro)

A Poem by Xerclipse
"

A poem based on my book Epic Grim

"

A man that darkness must fear

Let all demons and spirits scatter

Another dimension this one walks to

Never mentally stable!

Hell approaches him dangerously

Alcohol only fuels him everyday

Rage can be seen through his eyes

Killing is his only job

Isolated from humanity

Smile only triggered by violence

Oblivion awaits for him

Never mentally stable!

Interesting poem. I gather that this is about Alan Harkison, the main protagonist of Epic Grim. This piece certainly makes him seem like a...morbidly appealing fellow to know. Although I doubt anyone would want to spend a great deal of time in his presence, as based on this description, Hell follows on his heels wherever it is he goes.

The bolded letters you use to spell out his name with each line is a nice touch. I don't recall the type of poem that is but I do recall a similar one. No doubt you know of Edgar Allen Poe. Check out his poem "The Valentine" if you haven't before now. Though it's sort of a love poem, what he hides within its lines and the way he does is clever.

I have done several poems in that style, Acrostic. In them, a message is hidden by way of certain letters in each line, similar to what you have done here. Check it out, then challenge yourself to do something similar.
