Stalking Darkness

Stalking Darkness

A Poem by Xerclipse
"

based off of my book "Descend"

"

Eye for an Eye

The world goes blind.

Darkness creeps up from behind

and only tells horrible truths

or gives you a lie

A Reaper only reaps the darkness

after it reaps man and women.

Their sins bother the Reaper with stress

Human nature bothers him with bad taste.

Those who play the Reaper will stay underground for eternity

The rivers he crosses are not fresh

but only filled by the blood he spilled.

Man and monster have been killed

by the very Reaper himelf.

Now the Reaper does not live in peace

even though he obliterates the monster's flesh.

Seems more an excerpt of a story and leaving the audience to wonder what else is hidden behind the verse... I believe that is your intent here... I could be wrong... but you did based this off your book...

Last stanza; third to last line--> himelf-->himself
Great meaning behind the words. The darkness the world blinds itself in is the horror of truth...as if there are certain truths that create darkness (despair and like emotions) or cloud one's vision. It definitely got me thinking.

I love this poem and most poems of the world.
I would be very happy if all novels or stories could have a version in poetry.
Enjoyed reading.

The Reaper is one guy I dont want to meet..if this is how you describe him. i like the fact that you dont try to cover his attitudes with nice words. you tell him as he is.

take your time. I will be patient. You have no deadline.
A very intriguing poem. I like the repetitiveness you display in your use of the phrase "the Reaper". As it is, Death, the Grim Reaper is one of my favorite characters in most media. Whether he is portrayed as an eternal foe of life, a servant of darkness, or a solemn figure doing his duty, Death, in all his incarnations simply fascinates me.

So naturally I find great pleasure in the reading of this piece. The odd rhyme scheme introduced in the second and last stanzas are most enjoyable as are the great descriptions you use to illustrate your intent. I just might have to check out your book after reading this.

If I could make but one suggestion, it would be to capitalize the first word of every line, if only because it would make it more appealing to the eye.
