The Truth About Growing Older

The Truth About Growing Older

A Poem by Kathrine Rethorn
"

How I believe it feels to age.

"
Bodies burn with the desire to
feel something more than
the dread of tomorrow. Minds reeling
to imagine something other than
their next night terror. Then fear grips
their lungs tight, leaving them suffocating.
A monster climbs down their throat
posses their beings and morphs into their
person.  The older they grow the more
demented they become. Their actions
more aggressive, words are crass; they
don’t care. The craving to purge the evil
from their black tar soddened souls.
This ache becomes unbearable to the point
that nothing feels the same, their skin
is calloused and numb from the years of agony.
They pray for an end that will never come.
