Wasted

Wasted

A Poem by SouthernBelle

She sits alone

begging for help

she's trying to stop

pumping drugs into he system

She's become a little hoe

working the streets

to get her dough

wasting her life away

She goes in and out of doctors

to make sure she's clean

but she's making her money

either way

She finds a man

and falls in love

he finds out about her past

and leaves her in the dust

She cries and cries

begins to tie a rope

she wants to die

go away

She changes her ways

cleans her life up

falls in love again

but he finds out about her past

She cries to him

he holds her tight

and promises her

he'll never leave

They plan a wedding

have a honeymoon

they have a baby

and names him Sam

They live happily

now that she's clean

she wasted her life away

but its all the past now

We all have to make mistakes before we find a way to turn it around. It's hard to accept someone's past, if they have done drugs or been locked up or hurt themselves even throughout their life. I feel depite someone's past, they shouldn't be judged for it...it's who they are and we all make mistakes. People don't realize how fatal some of our mistakes can be...or how they can hurt us in the long-run. But I'm glad to hear she got clean and that she lives a happy life with her husband and child. The ending made me smile...

Everyone makes mistakes and then have to live with them. At times it can be hard to work past your mistakes, i enjoyed the job you did here.

Nice thoughtful write. It's sad that girls do this for money or drugs....

Forgiveness and redemption; no one is too lost to be found, too gone to be saved. Love this piece; very well put. Well done!

as sad as it is my hair cutting person told me we have a lot of very young girls doing this in our very small towns in NH. They get hooked on their mothers prescription drugs but then can't afford the 30.00 street price per pill. What a mess.

So this is a true to life write. Sad to say...

How are you doing? Ok I hope. I just posted a poem you might like. "Grateful Witness"

Be well.
