Why did you leave?

Why did you leave?

A Poem by SouthernBelle

Her best friend,

 Died in war,

She has begged for his dog tags,

But the army won't give them up.

  He kept her,

  From killing herself,

Now he's gone,

  And she's all alone.

She visits his grave every day,

Just to be with him,

She still talks to him,

  Like he was alive.

He promised to be there,

For graduation,

To walk her down the isle,

Now there's nobody to do that.

She swears she can see him,

  Everybody thinks she's crazy.

But she knows he's there.

  He always was.

He died for his country,

  Protect his buddies,

  But he left her alone,

Nobody to protect her.

  She cries everyday,

Wishing she had him back.

But he's gone forever,

  And never coming back.

She wants to be with him,

But can't.

  Please come back to me,

Why did you have to leave?

Now your gone,

And I'm all alone.

You promised you'd never leave,

So Where are you now?

I'm sorry for your lost. I served 15 years and I went to many good friends funerals. Their Wives and kids will never understand. If he saved your life once. He would want you to live for him. You must be strong and enjoy life with his memory close. I had to stay strong for good friends to remind their children. Their father loved them. Thank you for sharing the powerful words and poetry.

Maybe he hasn't really left if she see's him everyday. Sounds to me as if he is still there protecting her. We are often all too reliant on believe in things we can only see. She is a very loyal friend and you can feel her lost and devoting when she visits hid grave everyday. This reminds me of the story of the Akita dog that returned to the trainstation everyday to wait for his master who had died. Passionate read

its a true poem about my cousin. I lost him in july.
wow, really nice and heartfelt and it was easy to read,
I felt like there was a typo on the second line of the third stanza though
and I'm sure writing about it helped, but if your not better by the time I read this, you'll be in my prayers.

This is very heartfelt, very sad. I am sorry for your loss, it sounds like you really loved him. It is hard to lose someone dear to our hearts but I hope you will find some comfort, and someone to help you again.

Good Job
