Ocean Song

Ocean Song

A Poem by Lewis Davis-Norman

I am like a coral

Hydrated by the waves

Yet feeble in my form

Born from frail beauty

I sit upon majestic reef

Versing the language of colour

Like an aquatic bard

In azure waters, sentinel

Yet through murky haze I stare

Blankly into ocean chasms

Fogged by my own metaphor

Detached from my core

For I am just a coral

Dumb towards the world of art

Uninformed of what I represent

To blinded romantic fools

I am just a poem

Leaking lyrical charm

With linguistic zest

Crafted from fragile emotion

I sit delicately on the page

Reeling out sublime visions

Like supernatural utterences.

My tones are hums of pure perfection.

Yet strip me naked and tease me

Apart, ripping metaphorical seams

To unveil my simple form

A meek, resounding theme

For I am just a poem

I am laced with elegant lines

But the nexus of my being

Will be the memory in your mind.

I think you have created a fine "nexus of my being" here.
The life that pours out of poetry is no less than a thriving coral reef. A good metaphor to hinge this thought on.
