Disgruntled Coworker

Disgruntled Coworker

A Poem by LKBillips
"

Tasked with helping but received grief for my efforts

"
Disgruntled Coworker

The oppressive force of an aggressive stare
Standing against a resentful glare
I do what's asked of me, not in spite
My help is well meant, not added plight

So why then dear coworker must you give me your resistance?
You think your work is something I insisted?
I long to tally in the afternoon sun
Not finish up the work that you have not done

So watch your viper speech and bare me no fang
I will hold my tongue and taste that bitter tang
Walking the edge that my own ego creates
Holding my breath while the anger dissipates

The common sense says don't take it personal
But emotions can be so non-versatile
I gather my pride and keep marching on
The actions I take will remain when I'm gone

This is really well-written. I like how light the topic is, but I still read it as if it was some terrible event that happened to you. Of course, an irritable coworker is worse than many other things one can go through on a daily basis, but there are also many worse things than a bad coworker. You made this topic seem extremely important and cosmic in such a small amount of words. This is something really valuable in a writer, to be able to make anything you write about interesting. You did very well, and I enjoyed reading this piece. Amazing job, well done.

All that hassle for doing your job. Annoying isn't it? I like Neville's solution :) Not an easy situation to deal with. Still, it has given you material for a poem and it is well crafted. The flow is really smooth, so well done you.

This is the artful stinging rebuke we all wish we could spit out at the perfect moment, but alas, it's often something we grind on & then it comes out perfectly, but much too late! I love the way the intensity of your expressions gather steam as the poem goes along. It's so nice to be old & no longer having to spend most of my best hours around people who piss me off! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie
