A Poem by LKBillips

Fears of a life not well lived...just words

Can you see me?

Am I here?

I feel a shadow

All alone

Whispers, chanting, hallowed sounds

Watching and waiting to let me down

Curses, I curse you

Outbursts galore

Reflective past

A mimic of my younger self

Tearing, fighting, clawing pain

My world will never be the same

Growing up

Changing the core of things

Mortality never seizes

Yet that’s exactly what it does

Desperately seeking to not fade away

Gaping memory holes won’t let me stay

Touch down

Or a touch back?

The points are always against me

But I will overcome

Or fade like history pages

Long lost battle still wages

Inside of us

Inside of time, and death, and truth

Still there’s hope?

A life’s legacy is not fleeting

But profound beyond the doubt

Doubt that a life has not been lived

Not been relished, savored, devoured with passion

And forgotten
