the briar blues

the briar blues

A Poem by L.L Price
"

The path to restoration is both long & arduous, but the heart mends.

"
the scenery was familiar; i knew the path to you & it had been worn. but the brush grew so that it overtook the sun; the many briars & thorns weaving around that sphere of heat, crushing & deflating. & so it was night for many days. the darkness was thick & it settled into my mouth so that i choked & trickled into my eyes so that i was blind. & my heart fled from its poisoned cage to perch upon my sleeve, but it flew. where is the moon? where are the stars? & what of my heart? i have not seen it for miles. i came to a point where road shattered to sand & all became ocean. & how we were similar, myself & its hues. blue & blue & blue. i walked on the beach & came to my heart : it whimpered & cried, but now we were two.
