Bad Pilot!

Bad Pilot!

A Poem by Lola Nation

I’m so high I could land a plane

in the middle of a deserted field

I’d hit the eject button and everything

would be just fine

I’ll be the next hero on CNN

“cargo and passengers unhurt”

“Amazing feat”

Can you believe it?

Parades and articles in all the papers

but the tabloids come at night

They’ll focus on the real problem

My sense of direction or lack thereof

The fact that I’ve seen aliens (illegal)

The truth behind the last 20 years of my life

I wasn’t insured, my license had expired

and I was wanted for F.U.I. (flying under the influence)

See my last departure from American Airlines

Well, it was technical you know,

I was just going for a joy ride

The rest came along, we couldn’t help it

The headphones had the best music on

and the flight attendants were giving out free drinks

Oxygen was falling out the ceiling and we

just had this great great feeling

Why not fly

Pontius is jealous of my pilot

I’m above water

below the clouds

Arrest me here,

It’s okay

I’m just tryin’ to get through

the sound barrier

I’m just tryin’ to get through

the storm

One day I’ll level out
