Sifting Through The Sea

Sifting Through The Sea

A Poem by L.M.Warde

Sifting Through The Sea

Reflections staring back at me
A past so far away
Memories flowing like the sea
Drifting farther day by day

A voice once so clear to me
Stolen by the waves of ages
Its now a faded melody
Forever lost, like missing pages

I remain here stranded
Trapped by the currents of distant memory
Clutching for hope, yet empty handed
dreaming I'll one day return to being me.

I've forgotten who it is that I'm supposed to be
A misplaced, misused identity
So I go on forever sifting through, you see
In the oceans of upturned ipseity

Author's Note

L.M.Warde
I sometimes find myself wondering if I am moving in the direction best suited for my life. If my decisions perhaps have lead me astray from the man I could have been, or might should have been.
