Pursuit Of Nappy-ness

Pursuit Of Nappy-ness

A Poem by Jamila
"

Madness in white revolutions.

"
A
single
cough
cough
cough
echoes
across the world
unleashing
a feverish frenzy
of viral
cold panic
a revolution
of ablution
and a
storming
of the
Bastille
of my
market
violating my
freedom
confining me
to a cell
of
masked
seclusion
where I wait
and
contemplate
my
pursuit
of
nappy-ness.

Remember, a single cough is enough to keep the ex at bay for 14 days. A full-blown episode of coughing should surely keep her at bay for a lot longer. Okay, strange looking person wearing a spacesuit walking towards me. Is that a baseball bat, cos I'm sure the scientists never mentioned this as a cure.

Thanx so much, Paul. I appreciate you stopping by with your thoughts. :)
Cough, cough, cough > Keep away she has the Plague (Black Death in UK)
Communities isolated - At the point of entrance to a village a hollowed out stone (filled with vinegar) was used where money was put in for the transfer of goods > Incoming goods to one side of the track out going at the opposite side
Neither side came close to each other (Just checked 1349 isn't internet a great research tool)

Just to say it is not the first time people isolated themselves from others

yesterday a news program showed in the USA people queuing outside a gun shop

Where we are looking for Loo rolls; or even FOOD. they wanted more guns and bullets - Where that after looting Loo roll shops

As is our usual wont, as humans, we covet the strangest things. Having done extensive study on the French Revolution a few years ago I appreciate your satirical nod to the monumental. Knowing how the American Revolution served as a sort of inspiration, it seems only fitting that Jefferson is acknowledged in the poem :D.

I don’t understand the hoarding of toilet paper. But then there are a lot of aspects of human behavior I don’t understand. With the virus having landed in my own neck of the woods I have mixed feelings. Having watched things unfolding elsewhere I have no idea what to expect. But I won’t be hoarding paper products, haha.

Here’s to hoping there will be no need for nappies. Clever poem, Jamila.

We are also suffering as a result of panic buying and our shelves have been cleared of loo paper too. It never fails to surprise me how folk can act. I enjoyed this little write. Taking a poke at behaviour in a serious situation. Made me smile and mid my head Jamila.

LOL la révolution du papier toilette de 2020!!! Thanks for the levity in spite of the gravity of it all:) I am also hoping you have a bidet handy:) We could use A Thomas Jefferson in the White House right now for the government in the states is bungling everything as of late:( I do like your structures of expression Jamila

yes, we all seem to panic at the slightest thing...but also in this case maybe some scoffed at something that is more dangerous than we ever expected...madness for sure. And this poem is clever and makes have second, third and fourth thoughts.

I am also sick of the coronavirus craze & the political battles it engenders (as if mud-slinging isn't bad enuf on a prez-election year!) Your observations are light & fun & biting. I get the feeling there's something "black/white" about this message but I don't get what that is. Since I live in the wilderness, I probably won't be encountering any stray germs unless squirrels & deer are carriers! Thank you for bringing some levity to this overheated cauldron!
