Seance

Seance

A Poem by Jamila
"

Via Chemin Serre

"
A
midnight stroll
through plagued
misting
unto
the grave
of the
Lizard King
where softly
murmured
pearls
did
fall
from
ghostly lips
that once
sang them
all
I sat
awestruck
yet quaked
no
fear
as
lilting tones
caressed
my
ear
in a
mescaline
tongue
I failed to
comprehend
an admonition
of
the end
the end
my beautiful
friend
till I woke
reborn
under Sun's
warm
gaze
to the
daunting
promise
of
stranger
days.

I befriended the Lizard king , a long time ago. I saw his grave once, many moons ago. His song made me heal and know madness. He saw too much and I do believe. If you can see everything. It would be too much to see. I enjoyed your words and thoughts dear Jamila. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Yes he was a poet more than many people realize today:) I would also agree that in his journey of write he was very much a channelor and in the machinations of his channel as many writers do... the weight of his witness overwhelmed him. the skate of the line of death and the now is a perilous journey for many and it is so easy to fall to the ethereal side and he did push that envelope. I often think of artists that we lose so early of what they might of done had they been a bit more careful in that journey. but his mark has been made indelible

i like this journey, and it made me think of whom I would want to contact through seance...
Emily Dickinson...I would like to hear how she would respond to how widely her poetry is read and revered.
Would she blush a little? Or just say, "I am finally appreciated"
I am not a big Jim Morrison fan, but i know he has a great following, much like Bukowski.
Some just become cult figures...Your poetry might make you one someday...I am sure you have quite a following now...you do here at WC...you have a voice of many colors, especially relevant in these "stranger days"!

Thanx so much, Sarah. :)
This felt like an encounter with the Lizard King himself, Jamila. A very cool poem. Having had a longish love affair with the man myself, I really enjoyed the way you characterized the spirit.

If there is one grave I could visit expecting to meet the one who is resting there, would probably be Jim Morrison’s. He had a kind of otherworldly vibe and connectedness to things less intuitive to the everyday mortal.

I love the feeling of being under the influence that you have threaded through the poem. It lends to that ‘plague misting’ that you allude to at the start and I just imagine the speaker walking empty streets toward a vigil with the man himself. And he does not disappoint. But still questions hang.

That fog of stranger days hanging and even a meeting with the dead can’t dissipate that for us in the reality of our own strange moment. Is this the end? What would the Lizard King say. We can only have faith that the fog will lift and the music will continue. I enjoy your creativity as a poet.

too cool! from Via Chemin Serre to the American SouthWest and a trip on mescaline :) i found it easy to find the pace .. pause and acceleration .. short one and two word lines run a risk of seeming abrupt and choppy .. but this one hooked amd moved me like easy waters ... lots i really like in this .. the title for starters .. the Lizard King .. and those spectacular "..murmured pearl" ..and the closing metamorphosis which comes across as both beautiful and dangerous .. great read for me this morning .. my first of the day .. right here at the Cafe' :)
