A Poem by Laura

This is something I wrote a while ago. Found it on my laptop and thought I'd post it.

I look into the mirror and see my future self.

Warn out, tired, stressing.

Throughout the years,

Beaten to the edge,

Lies surrounding me like a never ending hedge.

You say you love me.

It can’t be true.

You say you don't mean it.

But the thing was I knew.

I turned away from the mirror on the wall,

the bruises around my eyes, cuts on my cheeks.

I walked up the hall.

Decisions can be made in many different ways.

Sometimes all you need to do is see what the consequences are.

Next time I look into that mirror I’ll be happy.

I’ll be pretty without your additional features to my face and body.
