Obsession

Obsession

A Poem by Beth Elaina
"

A few too many poppyseed muffins, perhaps? This is actually one of my favorite pieces, because of its imagery and personal significance. Interpretations, anyone?

"

Where do you turn
When the only joy is in your pain
And all the sunlight falls like rain
All around you it cascades
And it burns

Oh, sweet poison
Like peaches and cream
I dream about living
But I'm living in dreams
This bittersweet burden
In my possession
Is a blessing, a curse
My obsession

While poppy seed muffins are indeed lovely, nothing this beautiful could possibly have been spawned by opiates. Truth is beauty, beauty is truth. That said...Beautiful.

Still as beautiful as the first time I read it...

And I don't think you had too many poppy seed muffins. :)
