Dark Retreat

Dark Retreat

A Poem by Beth Elaina
"

I love going for walks at night during the wintertime. It's so deliciously cold...

"

Arms of darkness pull me close
Whispering
“You aren’t alone”
Waves of icy wind arise
Numbing me
With soothing sighs

An eb’ny rose, frosted white
Mirrors the sky
Black silk, starlight
A lovely image, nothing more
Reflecting life
With an empty core

Like the rose, I’m frozen, still.
I find peace
In winter’s chill
No flame of passion, no wrathful heat
Can interrupt
My dark retreat

I like the imagery of this. It's dark and cold and snowing. a little bit depressing maybe, but good all the same.

I like this. The imagery of the winter winds embracing the lonely soul that walks through it. The heart being frozen but still finding peace in the winters chill. Good write.
