the war of words and the impact that they have upon our thoughts

Battlefield
By: Lalli

Let me fight you with my words in the battlefield of your mind
Let me serenade your heart
With words packed into a hand grenade
As I toss it up into the air
So that at the very instant your eyes glance upon my written word
That you may be given only seconds for interpretation
As they explode
With hope
Hoping that every words meaning will leave you pheening for more like a junkie
A druggie who just got a quick fix
And now is in need of another hit
In a soldiers attempt to escape the pain of war

Let the paper
Become your paraphernalia
Let my words
Become your drug
So that upon the digestion of my expression you may see different views
Please remove the limitations of your thoughts
Opening up to another’s point of view with no restrictions

Try to understand that poetic verse can be universally understood
With each words interpretation diversely affected
By perspective

Imagine as you’re trapped in the trenches of warfare
That it all started with one feeling
One feeling that turned into one thought
One thought that turned into one word that was immediately scripted on to paper
As the transformation of a once quiet thought
Begins to grow louder until a battle cry is heard
As one word
Is given enough strength to turn into celestial power
Strong enough to change the currents of our bloodstream
Let it shift the direction of its flow
So that you may ponder
Let your thoughts slow down from their hastened pace
As you face the emotions provoked by one feeling
One feeling that was felt by one person
That sparked one thought
Which turned into one word that altered the thought pattern of a stranger
In this verbal assault
Let your soul thirst no longer
Quench it with the refreshment of expression
Let the fuel be added to a fire that yearns to burn
As your heart begins to turn softer warming the center of your core
Let the ice drip from your atriums
So the blood of life may pump once more through your veins
Let the clarity of sanity come next from the adrenaline rushing to your brain

So that when you finally climb out of the trenches
When the battle line has been drawn to a conclusion
That you may feel like a new person
A better person
A person who was humbled by the experience of what can be learned
As you gained wisdom this day
From taking the time to fight a war
In the battlefield of your mind

this is an excellent piece of work, Lalli! sorry i hadn't gotten to it sooner, it got buried in my requests...lol.

but seriously, this is impressive...that words or a word can be powerful in the mind of a person. it can change the whole outlook of that person....it can enlighten or destroy...it all depends on the person that reads and takes those words to heart.

thanks for sharing, my friend.

much love,

Amanda

Yeah, I don't know what happened to my last review. All I had said was that I enjoyed the poem, but I thought it went in two very different directions. I liked the poetic/literary battlefield metaphor, but then it split off into drug images and language. I was interested in reading more descriptions of the battlefield, that's all... Otherwise, I really enjoyed it. Your syntax is fantastic and I really like your narrative voice. Have a good one, sir, and definately keep up the good work.

I loved how you spun the waging of war into something entirely different in this piece. It was insightful and full of hope for the future of not only the world around us but the peace of our individual souls.

Let your soul thirst no longer
Quench it with the refreshment of expression
Let the fuel be added to a fire that yearns to burn
As your heart begins to turn softer warming the center of your core
Let the ice drip from your atriums

This stanza called to me the most. Really great piece.

words can become such powerful weapons. i hope you use them for good and not manipulation. my stepmother used words on my to manipulate me, let me tell you what (besides the fact that i was confined to my room for 4 years) my mind has never been the same. great poem. you show how powerful words can be to people. great work.

Fabulous piece!

Yes you are so right. A mind very often resembles a battlefield, and fights an internal war about feelings and thoughts.

An outstanding work! Kudos!

I saw my self thinking that by reading your words over n over. I'm fighting a battle within myself. To see what everyone else may see but I can seem to understand that far of head. When you wrote this. It was easy to see the truth behind the gated walls. I've know what you been fighting every day n I can't be more proud of you for facing the facts. Still writing the truth n not fiction S**T!

When you wrote this piece. I alway want to know what spark your inspiration. What was the feel you had at that moment to write Battlefield? Because I'm still blow away by your brilliants! To know that you write what some writers can't write about for years! I'm very greatful to have you as my friend n what impack your inspiration has had on my life. I can't say I havn't been jealous of your work....lol..A Wonderful piece sweets, And don't let others put water on your fire! Through I know no one can take away the gift God gave you!

As away! Your a inspiration to what is coming...CHANGE

Love n respect to you n the art of your words,
A.E.M.
