Cincinnati

Cincinnati

A Poem by Lara
"

I love the musicality of "Cin-cin-nati". And explore/indulge (what I feel is) its affect. Woven in are some allusions to the location itself, along with obvious metaphor and psychic agency

"

going to Cin-cin-nati,
even if it snows tomorrow.
they used to have steamboats
but don't expect they still do...

even so, my heart lopes
with the river yet.
my fluted ribs
for sparkle-jazz Cin-cin-nati!

and've already quick-step-skeedadled
to its bridges there!
now am a melody
whistled from a window,
winding within Cin-cin-nati...

even if it snows tomorrow,
this liddle-lilting riverine eddy
drives steamboats still,
going to Cin-cin-nati!

Wow, that flowed like a jazz song — smooth and full of heart.
I could feel the rhythm and warmth in it.
Cincinnati sounds magical the way you described it — like a place both real and dreamlike.
Thanks for sharing such a vivid ride.

Lara,
What a delightful bit of fun! Pity those who do not know what words can do, Poet Lara...

About
I like poetry, though I don't presume to write it as much as write about things that feel like poetry when they happen,.. with the lucky-dip clause of introspection. Ironically, I look forward to lea.. more..
