When Muses Die

When Muses Die

A Poem by Whiskurz

We buried a muse the other day
For a poet laid down his quill
He said he'd never write again
For he simply refused to feel

Muses came from miles around
To tell their friend goodbye
Inspiration was everywhere
You should have heard them cry

They buried her in a special place
Up on Inspiration Hill
Paper flowers covered her grave
Her tombstone, the poet's quill

No one knows where muses go
When poets refuse to write
Maybe they simply disappear
Or maybe follow the light

The next time you get your writer's block
And you're feeling empty inside
Your inspiration has gone to a funeral
For another muse has died

This is absolutely wonderful. It was written so well, and gave my heart a shot of sadness for all the abandoned, and missing muses and their poets. The way you wrote it gave me new insight about the relationship, and made me feel even more appreciative of mine...even with all her shortcomings. Thanks, Whisk. Reading your work is always time well spent.

Wow, this is quite amazing and interesting to ponder about! If that's the case, I should've had a lot of funerals! Haha. I lose a lot of inspirations since I get too caught up with each and every idea. I love the rhyming and the flow of the poem. It's well-written indeed! Keep up the great work. :)

This is great :)
Muses come and go, birthed in our minds but they fade away quickly...

Did write this as a tribute to Nora Ephron? It is beautiful!

No one knows where muses come from, no one knows where they go. Maybe she became an humble wild flower shedding perfume in the higher fields. I wish you to follow the light forever, this is a good rhymed poem.

This lovely. I really like it. Great job, and I'm sorry I don't have anything more to say. :P Other than that I hope your muse doesn't die for quite a while.

put it in my faovirtes. Very metaphorical, I loved it. A great way to explain writer's block in a poetic fashion.
