Each Night I Sail An Ocean

Each Night I Sail An Ocean

A Poem by Lathen Griffiths

Silken strands of sleep
suspend these soft unwoven dreams,
nestled safe in slumber
floating on unconscious streams,
come evening, a little boat
departs amidst moonbeams.

The winds that blow eternal
fill the sails that push it on,
celestial or infernal
are the waves it rolls upon,
this weathered boat I cling to,
come my waking, will be gone.

For each night I sail an ocean
that’s both endless and finite,
adrift amidst the darkness
lost within the spell of night,
until my eyes reopen
to be blessed by morning light.

the ocean is so mysterious at night...I would like to book passage on that boat.
My dreams never seem to travel.

Lovely soft sounding alliteration in this piece Lathe. That sail boat on the ocean of your dreams seems pretty restful to me. Really like the second stanza in particular. Good to see a post from you. Hope all is well in your world.

Very nicely rhymed piece here about our nightly journey. I wish I had such a nice little boat. My dreams are bizarre and confused.
