Fade out of View

Fade out of View

A Poem by Laura Harrison

Even though we've been together for almost three years now

I still get surprised every time you kiss me

every time you hold me

every time you say "I love you"

I guess I'm still getting used to

not being that lonely little girl

waiting for Prince Charming to come along

I guess I'm still getting used

to the feel of you holding my hand

and brushing my tears away when I'm sad

because before you,

those were feelings that I never had

and it all still feels like a dream-

too perfect to be true

and I'm scared that one of these days

I will wake up

and you will fade out of view

so I'm capturing every memory of us

in my mind like a photograph

all of the precious and beautiful moments

that we will ever have

just in case you ever do.

Lovely poem - really hit home for me. I can really relate to that feeling of not being used to such love, and afraid of losing it one day. Lovely!

a poem of love with undertones of fear of rejection
why would you worry about that, your young and pretty
this is the right one, three years

I believe all of us hold memories dear.
"so I'm capturing every memory of us
in my mind like a photograph "
I liked the poem. It is sad we fear separation when involved in sweet love. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
