Wishful Thinking

Wishful Thinking

A Poem by Laura Harrison
"

The first poem I've written in months! I feel much better now.

"

Why can’t we just forget all our worries

and say “f**k it?”

Throw a dart at a map

and go wherever it lands,

just pack our things

and get on the next plane away from here

without having to worry

about how much money we haven’t got,

without having to think

about all of the responsibilities we hide away from.

Why can’t we just start over?

Turn the page

and erase everything we know

because we will be learning better things

wherever it is we go.

We could make the world our own

and we wouldn’t have to stay

in the same place for long

because as long as I’m with you,

I will always be home.

We could do whatever we wanted to do

because you know

we don’t have to abide by society’s rules

and doing anything would be better

than doing nothing in this one small room.

Why can’t we just go on an adventure?

Explore the world

and see the sights,

figure out what it means

to be alive.

For once,

Why can’t we just enjoy our life?

Great read. Enjoy where you are now because when you get to where the dot lands on the map. There you are. Sadly, unable to enjoy where you are because you never learn to enjoy where you were. I therefore concur
