The Rain

I love the rain
when I'm safe inside
and curled up in bed
with a good book
and good thoughts
in my head.

But I'm learning
how to dance in the rain,
how to brave the storm
and wash my fears away.
I'm realising
that I shouldn't wait
for the downpour
to subside
before I make
the most of my life.

And when the storm
has passed,
when I'm no longer
at sea,
I know that the sunshine
will be waiting for me.
