Reaching-Part One

Reaching-Part One

A Poem by Laurierose
"

Part One.

"

He put out fires

So I couldn't smell the flame

Shouldered guilt

When I couldn't be reached for blame

Tamed the chaotic

So I could smile. Damage free.

Reached out for clenched fingers

And made the impossible seem

So easy

we can be so devastated by love...that we never want to give it another chance...but there just might be that person who can be the balm for the wound...the one who can make us trust ourselves once again, and even more importantly trust another again, with our hearts.

I spent a long time not taking that open hand... funny how fear has a way of making us realize it! I spent a lot of time distancing myself from affection for fear of losing it isn't that ironical:) Dumb Bunny I enjoy the voice in this will read the others

I appreciate this! Thanks for the review :)
I want to know what's next, because here I see two different images, the first one when it seems that You are the victim in/of love and the second one when he seems to do everything to make You stay away from feeling these negative emotions of guilt, low self-esteem... etc, but at the end the two of You made it by reaching out for one to another and together You walked forward.

Yes, I love your angle here. Persistence is key, oftentimes. Thank you for the perspective!

You are very welcome my friend :)
Ha this has to be my favorite from the trilogy! Love the imagery in this one. So now that I've finished the trilogy(the wrong way around😂), I think they'll look really nice on one page, or you can include them in a book together on the site...I did the same with my short poems in the book "Moon's spectrum" because i figured, being the biggest procrastinator, I'll take too long to write all of them, and so wouldn't ever publish them on here. (The book is still incomplete btw😂)

Lovely expression, protection of love.

Your message describes a common situation in love, where one puts out fires while the other is highly flammable! I love the various choices for imagery & metaphor that you use to show instead of tell. Even tho you see this as a trilogy of poems . . . I'm not seeing a strong connection between this & #2, which I just read. That's OK. Each of your poems is a fulsome message on its own (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
