Steadfast Devotion

By Chain Of Hearts

 

 

They twinkle, like stars amongst the night skies.

Gazing into mine with soft tenderness.

His smile laced with flourishing happiness,

Lighting up his blue cerulean eyes.

 

The miles between us effortlessly try

To demolish joy - induce loneliness.

To slowly fabricate an emptiness.

Taunting our minds with corruption and lies.

 

Our endearment strengthens our devotion,

Companionship providing what we sought.

Each word conversed with heartfelt emotion.

 

Whether this ardor will last, I know not,

As raucous storms may enthrall an ocean.

But this I know - this love cannot be bought.

This poem is an Italian sonnet I wrote recently, written in honour of my best friend who lives far away. I won't see him for nine more months, so why not write something about our relationship?
