Soñar un sueño

This poem is about being unable to have something and choosing to dream about instead. That life cant always grant us with choices but finding beauty in that is what makes it unique.

"Si nunca voy a saber, 

Entonces lo voy a soñar,

Porque algunas veces en la vida no podemos escoger, 

Pero quiero dejar te saber que es algo único.”

English Version (translation)

"If I'm never going to know,

Then I will dream it,

Because sometimes in life we ​​can not choose,

But I want to let you know that it's something unique. "

Ok, I'll tak the translation first

It seems accurate.

The only thing is the last line (in English)

Pero quiero dejar te saber que es algo único

But I want to let you know that it's something unique.

In the Spanish version, "To let you" does not exist (unless that's something you're trying to imply?"

The google translates is like you wrote it, but I would say

"But I want to stop knowing that it's (something) unique"

Is that what you were going for? Seems like that would be the more accurate translation, but translating poetry is always super tricky.

On a simple editorial note, I don't think you need "en la vida"

It's sorta implied, unless you just like the sound of it.

OK. So that's just the anal critique part! lol

Overall, I liked it, and I think we have all felt that way at one time or another, English, Spanish or en Francais :P

I wanted to express that not having a choice is what makes life unique.

"en la vida" is def. a stylistic choice, I just like the way it sounds.

This was a drunken thought that came to me one night, it's not polished because of that I think. Writing in Spanish is a new interest. I'm hoping to polish it more and more as I practice.

Anyway! Thanks again, I like the critique it allows me to focus on my writing.

No problemo. I'm actually trying to do Spanish stuff too, so we're in the same boat!

And I get the stylistic choice. It's like saying "I'm the loneliest man on earth" instead of just saying "I'm the loneliest man" - "logically" don't need "on earth" cuz, well, where else is he gonna be? lol

But poetically, the "on earth" can give an extra emphasis.

So I def get it. I do it too. We are writers after, not logicians :)

This is something to think about when your mind is clear and you're able to focus. Most times life is about choices but sometimes your destiny is laid before you. In these cases it's an adventure taking a step in that direction
