~My Wish~

‎Grant yourself a single moment to not bemoan...
Dismiss their whines of the crowded rush encircled,
Put aside the false meaning as it is now sadly known...

Are we so easily deluded to fall into topical ritual?...
Broken behavior too easily persuades our sculpture,
Why allow abstracted actions so easily habitual?...

Unselfishly he left his adoring children and wife...
Dreams now haunted with bloodshed and tears,
Accepting no gifts in return for sacrificing his life...

While our greed takes possession at this time of year...
He fights another day for our freedom, gunfire replaces soft carols,
Crosses cast shadows, for each day another does appear...

Dear Santa; I do have one wish on my Christmas list...
Can you please bring our heroes back home safe and sound,
Heal their minds and give back to them, all they have missed?...
