A Birth Bound

A Birth Bound

A Poem by Legion
"

For a friend

"

A Birth Bound

A birth bound

By the maladies of mortality,

Expressed in silence

And chained by immobility,

Her heart decries

This physical captivity

Embracing that which

Denies her disability.

She stares into her mother's eyes,

Defined by love and sorrowed cries,

Knowing that the longing

Held within her mother's heart.

Can not be sated

By these lips stifled from start.

She listens to her mother's voice,

Understanding the difficult choice,

And recognizes the power

Of her mother's grace

In the comfort given a child

Slowly withering in place.

A life given

To the maladies of mortality

Now finds freedom

To fly beyond the futility

Of fleshed confines

And grasps the generosity

Of God Almighty

Enraptured in eternity.

She stares into her Father's eyes

And sees her mother deep inside

Whose sleeping dreams soon reunite

Where both mother and daughter so warmly smile.

Hand in hand they walk together

With many a step upon a miracle mile.

She stares into her mother's eyes

And glimpses the longing deep inside.

She, with angelic wings lifted,

Seeks to quell the turmoil with a new found calm.

She now gives a wondrous gift

Spoken in her mother's ear - the words "I love you Mom".

the rhyme scheme on this is admirable. the imagery is stellar, and the message is hopeful. there is little that holds more grandeur than the relationship, in love, of daughter and mother. "chained by immobility"; "embracing that which denies her disability"; "enraptured in eternity" this is skilled usage. faith allows for hope. hope allows for love. well done.

Beautiful and touching. I am a mother myself. Your writing has such a smooth flow to it. The last thing I read mentioned a band. Are u a musician?

Wow. Very nice. I'm impressed. Giving this one of my very rare 98% ratings.

A powerful piece with strength in every stanza. I find when one writes on deeply moving subjects, the words can flow beautify as each one is felt from the very soul and so only true feelings come out.

Kudos. Highest marks!

Best regards,

Rick

This caused a tear!
So beautifully rendered love, you have voiced such intricate emotion throughout and made me feel so warmed by this...such a journey and then the final line - blew me away!

(cut me off)
... and now that i'm starting a family of my own, i can truly appreciate her sacrifice, and how much giving us up hurt her.
I used to hate her, I did. But now I cant.
(love you, mom...))

I can truly relate to this, in a different way than intended, I think. My mom put my little brother and I in the foster care system when we were youong...
