Corn Field

Corn Field

A Poem by Leigh

I am in love with the girl with the golden hair

She runs like a child in the fields

Her hair flows so free

Like a sea of corn behind her

Once she said “Come now and chase me”

And we ran through the path she wove

And very soon I held her near

In the middle of a sudden cloudburst

She flushed deepest rose as we pressed together

Hiding from the sudden torrent

But did it rain just then? I couldn’t tell

I was blocked by the landscape of her

I'm pretty sure I chased that chick around the Tobacco fields when I was growing up.

You are clearly in love with this girl, for if it rains and you can not feel it, then the sun must be shining on the two of you. How lucky you are to have such love that makes unpleasand weather disappear when you are together.

A beautiful poem. I like the places you took me. Good to roam with the golden hair girl in the field of corn. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.
