NEWS FLASH! / ("REMEMBER... NO RUSSIAN")

A Story by Quickbeam
"

A poem about virtual hypocrisy. "Remember no Russian" is a line from Call of Duty. A bloody part of a story which was only there to shock people, where you could participate in acts of terrorism.

"

Switching on the TV or reading a paper. Another semi-surprised shock to hear about an outsider, alien to us shooting a score of people. The ritual repetitive thoughts ensue; why did he take those lives, how could he do it? The cause will soon be forgotten and diffused by other sinister acts of violence.

“Mans inhumanity to man” we mutter, as we put down papers and remotes and pick up controllers. Playing a virtual character emotionlessly shooting virtual people, good and bad in a make-believe world. For a cause soon to be forgotten and diffused by other sinister acts of entertainment.

So much truth is such a small piece of writing. There is way too much insensitivity in our modern-day culture.

But, I wouldn't exactly call it a poem, it is more of a very short story.
Though since I am bad at poetry, so it may actually be a type of poem I haven't encountered before.
