Flood

Flood

A Poem by Ina Waltz

Hours we spent together were never quite right,
all we tasted of was sweat and blood.
We were always meant to be
so together we crawled into the dark.
Fog in my dry mouth made me fear the flood,
you pulled me closer to end the fight.

I never thought of death before that night.
